West Falmouth,

For the architect’s family as clients, this new waterfront dwelling was completed in 2011, rising from the footprint of the demolished house that was built in 1945. To blend in with Cape Cod style, exterior finishes are natural cedar shingles with white trim. FEMA and local codes dictated the finish floor height and waterfront landscaping requirements. Interior design is in contemporary style, featuring open California-style living spaces, including a partially-screened Veranda overlooking the harbor and a regulation-size Billiard Room. Green features include an 11-KW solar system with battery backup, bamboo floors, Icynene insulation, and fiberglass marine-grade piles. David Mittelstadt, Landscape Architect, skillfully integrated the landscape planting with the building design using exclusively native plant materials.
